Ex-Footballers' Wives Laila 'loves Egypt'

Laila Rouass has become fascinated with ancient Egypt since taking on the role of Egyptologist Dr Sarah Page in Primeval.

Laila's new role as an academic is a world away from playing Amber Gates in the ITV1 football drama Footballers' Wives.

"Primeval is poles apart," she said. "There's no scheming, no bitching and certainly no Manolo's. The only concession to any glamour was that I was wearing these 1930s-style dresses."

Laila now shares her character Dr Page's interest in all-things Egyptian.

"Doing Primeval has awakened a real passion for the subject in me," she said, "and I'm currently looking into Open University degrees in Egyptology. I find it utterly fascinating."

Primeval 3 begins on Saturday March 28 at 7.20pm on ITV1.
