Primeval is heading for Hollywood

The makers of Primeval have apparently teamed up with US film studio Warner Bros to turn the ITV1 hit into a Hollywood movie.

Work on the film version - a joint effort between production company Impossible Pictures and Warner - will begin later this year, according to reports on broadcastnow.co.uk.

It is not yet known if the actors from the ITV1 drama, such as former S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt (pictured) and comedian Ben Miller, will star in the movie.

Primeval, which first aired on ITV1 in 2007, follows a team of scientists on the hunt for prehistoric beasts which come through rifts in time to the present day.

The series was created by Impossible Pictures' creative director Tim Haines, who also produced the BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs in 1999.

It's also been reported that Impossible Pictures is in talks with networks to develop a US TV version of Primeval.
