Primeval set for second series

Saturday night drama Primeval will be back for a second series, ITV1 has confirmed.

Douglas Henshall, Hannah Spearitt, James Murray, Ben Miller, Andrew-Lee Potts, Lucy Brown and Juliet Aubrey will reprise their roles.

They will also be joined by some new faces as Karl Theobold (Green Wing) and Naomi Bentley (The Mark Of Cain) join the team.

The story revolves around a group of scientists and some ruthlessly efficient Home Office employees who discover a rift in the space-time continuum that has opened into an era when dinosaurs ruled the world. And now the creatures have got through to our time...

Impossible Pictures and Framestore CFC, the team who re-created a host of pre-historic animals in series one, will breathe life into yet more species that time forgot the next time around.

Tim Haines of Impossible Pictures said: "The response to the first series of Primeval was tremendous, so it is a huge pleasure to start making the second.

"For Cutter [Henshall] and his team, the new series will present them with a whole new set of problems. I only hope they make it to the end of the filming schedule alive."

Cutter and co will be returning for more adventures
