A Dangerous Deal

Robin asks Isabella, the new Sheriff of Nottingham, to work with him for King Richard but Isabella declares she works only for herself and wants to be the best sheriff Nottingham has had. In her first appearance in office, Isabella pardons Meg, a young woman who has stood up to her bullying father, and says she wants to make Nottingham a fairer place.

Suddenly, Isabella's thuggish husband, Squire Thornton, appears and proclaims himself sheriff. To help Isabella, Meg tells Thornton of a hoard of gold in the forest and Isabella takes Thornton to the location. They uncover a Danish tomb, full of treasure, but Robin's band attacks and, though they are driven off, Isabella escapes. Robin meets her in the woods and she promises to help him and hand over the gold.

Later, as Thornton searches the woods for Isabella, a dark horseman appears out of the night claiming they have triggered a Viking curse. Terrified, the men run off, leaving Thornton to face Robin and his men, who pack him off to a mad house.

Back at the castle, Meg has become attached to Guy and she tries to free him from his cell, but Isabella catches them red-handed and orders both to be executed. Then, at the agreed handover of the gold, Isabella sets a trap, though Robin's men manage to escape with Much's help.

It's the day of the executions and, as the axe is raised, Robin shoots the executioner, allowing the two prisoners to escape, though Meg is mortally wounded. Then, as Robin's men steal the unguarded gold, Thornton suddenly appears and drags Isabella into the castle. She begs forgiveness but, as his countenance softens, she drives her dagger home, killing him instantly.

Sheriff once more, Isabella orders the death of Thornton's men and swears that Robin Hood is next!
