Prince John makes his move for the throne

When Lord Sheridan, Keeper of the Crown, arrives in Nottingham with King Richard's dead body, Prince John declares he's to be crowned king and the Archbishop is to conduct the coronation.

But Robin can't believe Richard is dead and the outlaws break into Kirklees Abbey to see the body for themselves. He's mortified to see Richard's dead face but Kate soon discovers it's a waxwork made to look like the king. Robin has to prevent the coronation so decides to steal the crown.

Taking Sheridan's keys, he and Tuck head for the dungeons where the jewels are kept and, avoiding the traps guarding the jewel chest, Robin removes the crown and makes his escape. He rides off to deliver the symbol of sovereignty to the King's supporters, but is caught by Sheridan and his men. It's not long before he escapes, however, and returns with another plan to foil Prince John.

It's coronation day and John is about to be crowned when the doors burst open, guards enter and a voice claims King Richard has returned. It's not the king, it's Robin and his men but, in his panic, Sheridan blurts out the truth and the Archbishop refuses to carry out the coronation.

Suddenly, Gisborne leaps from the shadows, grabs the crown and aims a crossbow at John, only to be thwarted by Isabella who puts herself in his line of fire. Gisborne shoots, wounding his sister, but is quickly captured and, in the melee, Kate grabs the crown and the outlaws escape.

With Gisborne in shackles, Prince John rewards Isabella by making her Sheriff of Nottingham. Meanwhile, in Sherwood, the outlaws stop the Archbishop's carriage and present him with the crown of England for safekeeping.
