Ruthless Rufus is out for revenge

Desperate for money to pay Prince John, the Sheriff hires a new tax collector, Ruthless Rufus, who's returned to his hometown of Nottingham with his son, Edmund. Rufus immediately lives up to his name by storming into Locksley and destroying Kate's family pottery and forcing her to accompany him to Locksley Manor, his new home.

Robin and Much rescue Kate but succeed in getting the feisty young woman outlawed in the process. Robin decides their next move should be to kidnap Rufus but Kate and Allan are taken captive, though the others get away with Edmund.

Meanwhile, Rufus has a dastardly plan of his own. He has a serious grudge against the Sheriff and forces Scrope, the treasurer, to persuade the Sheriff to loan his troops to the Earl of Northumberland. With the guards gone, Rufus raids the treasury. Upon his return, the Sheriff discovers Scrope's betrayal and kills him. Now he has to find Rufus... and his money.

Tuck reasons with Edmund who eventually reveals where Allan and Kate are being held - the old butcher's shop. The outlaws get there just in time and Robin holds Rufus at sword point as the Sheriff turns up. Now the truth starts to come out. Rufus blames the Sheriff for his father's death, but it soon becomes apparent that he was executed for a crime committed by Rufus himself!

Suddenly, Rufus breaks free, dragging a reluctant Edmund with him. Furious that his guilt has been exposed and that Edmund is against him, he is about to stab his son when Robin fells him with an arrow!

The outlaws return to Sherwood with the Sheriff's money and a new member... Kate has decided to join them!
