Tuck's in for a long stretch
Saturday, 11 April 2009 19:45 BBC1

The Sheriff discovers that the Abbot of Kirklees has committed an act of heresy and, desperate to appease Prince John, he blackmails the churchman into helping him bring down Robin Hood. Against his will, the Abbot is forced to denounce Robin and his fellow outlaws as heretics, punishable by being burned at the stake!
Though Robin forbids it, Tuck takes it upon himself to confront the Abbot and discovers why the Sheriff has such a hold on him – he's translated the Bible into English, an act forbidden by the Pope!
But the Abbot will not back down and Tuck is taken prisoner and paraded before the villagers by the Sheriff. The monk is to die on the rack but, as he awaits his doom in the town square, Robin and his men come to the rescue, setting the square aflame and releasing him from the rack.
Robin still has to get the edict against them lifted and, at the St Barnabus Day service in the Abbey, Robin and his men confront the Abbott, demanding he admit the truth. Though tortured by his conscience, the Abbot refuses to back down and Robin and his men are arrested.
They are to be burned alive and, as they stand tied to the stakes, the Sheriff lights the pyre. But as the flames lick about their feet, the Abbott can take no more and shouts that the outlaws are innocent and that the Sheriff is the spawn of Satan. Furious, the Sheriff throws the Abbott's English Bible into the flames, but Robin and his men cut their bonds and escape to the safety of Sherwood!
