JJ confronts his friends

JJ is different and it soon becomes clear that he's unique in the most wonderful way. A perpetual outsider due to his autism, he just wants to be normal without realising he's probably the most grounded of all his friends.

Since Freddie and Cook's fight over Effy, JJ's been feeling extremely 'locked on'. No one listens to him, his mother's depressed, the doctor keeps increasing his medication and the local kids constantly tease him.

After he runs into Emily at the psychiatric centre - she's having counselling - she persuades him to confront his friends. But it all goes a bit pear-shaped when they find Freddie in bed with Katie, and JJ accidentally outs Emily to her twin.

A house call to Effy begging her to leave Cook and Freddie alone also proves fruitless even when JJ declares his love for her. Then, on his way to visit Cook, JJ discovers Pandora's cheating on Thomas with his wayward pal.

Later, a night out with the gang goes horribly wrong when JJ persuades Cook to sample his medication resulting in Cook telling painful home truths to both Freddie and Thomas...

The recently outed Emily goes home with JJ and one thing leads to another! Emily makes it clear it's a one-off bedroom boogie between friends. Later, JJ's calmer and happier and his mother starts to realise that having an autistic son isn't the life-sentence she imagined.
