Lara Pulver received a cheeky message from a former co-star when she landed a role in spy drama Spooks.
The True Blood actress, who starred with ex-Spooks actor Richard Armitage in TV series Robin Hood, plays newest recruit Erin Watts in the drama, which is finally bowing out.
"It was wonderful because on the first day of shooting I got an email from him," Lara revealed, "saying, 'I've just heard you've got Spooks. I'm so glad they got rid of me so you could come and join the show'.
"He's a fun friend and I got to see a glimpse of the show through his eyes."
Lara said of her new role in the final series: "I've never worked with a gun before, it's usually swords. But it's hugely empowering in a very weird way."
She said she felt a responsibility to be as accurate as possible in her portrayal in the BBC One MI5 spy show.
"I definitely felt the butterflies," she added.
The 10th and final series of Spooks begins on BBC One on Sunday, September 18.
