Will Stone prove his dead dad was a rapist?

As the day of his estranged father's funeral arrives, Sergeant Stone still believes his police officer dad was a rapist, who attacked a young police colleague, Kelly Ryan, 20 years ago...

But his determination to expose the truth brings him into conflict with his mum, Bridget. Sam Callis, who plays Stone tells us more about the episode...

How does Bridget feel about the allegations Stone is making against her late husband?
"Stone wants to fix his relationship with his mother. But that is jeopardised by his investigation into his father’s background. Over the last few episodes, it's been interesting to see my character lose control and become a bit vulnerable."

What happens when Smithy discovers that Stone has gone in search of his dad's victim, Kelly?
"He's really angry that Stone has abused his Sergeant's position to get hold of the file. Smithy is all about upholding the law and Stone is all about justice. So you're going to see Stone's family troubles affecting his working relationship with Smithy. I think they're at the point where they respect each other, but they are far from being mates."

Are you going to miss playing the role when The Bill comes to an end?
"I have loved playing Stone, because he's such a long way from me. I've been very lucky, as they've given the character some great storylines. At the same time, he's been quite hard to play, because he's so intense all the time. There are times when I'm so pleased to get rid of him at the end of the day. I just want to say, 'Cheer up, mate. Life's not that bad!'"

The Bill can be seen on Tuesday August 17 at 9pm on ITV1.
