Mma Makutsi gets her first case

The straight-laced and rather wonderful Mma Makutsi is loving her new role as assistant detective in Mma Ramotswe's agency. And she's soon working on her first case – following Rra Badule's wife, whom he suspects of having an affair. Fun-loving hairdresser and neighbour BK lends Mma Makutsi a hand and together they find the truth before being forced into a hasty escape by a couple of very angry maids.

Technically she can celebrate solving her first case, but she's not sure if she can tell Rra the truth. Meanwhile, Mma Ramotswe, Botswana's No. 1 lady detective, is approached by Mma Pekwane, an honest and religious woman who's struggling with her conscience. Her husband bought a brand-new Mercedes for a very low price and she's convinced it's stolen.

Being the inventive soul she is, Mma Ramotswe comes up with a surprise plan – they should steal the car back and return it to its rightful owner. To get it back, she enlists the help of her friend, JLB Matekoni, who's still struggling to control his feelings towards her. Aware their boss has romantic ideas, his young workers decide they must try to make Mma Ramotswe jealous.

Meanwhile, she puts her car-returning plan into action...
