But her attention switches when she's visited by a wealthy businessman with a serious family matter. His half-brother's wife has been accused of trying to poison the family, and he asks her to investigate.
To find out more, Mma Ramotswe goes to the house and posses as an assistant. There she discovers a family at war, with everyone having a motive for poisoning each other. The cook looks the obvious villain but she uses all her cunning to unearth what’s been going on.
Meanwhile, Mma Makutsi proves her worth when she's left in charge of the case of The 2 O'clock Doctor.
