Jack Ryder quits The Royal Today before filming

Former EastEnder Jack Ryder has quit new ITV1 drama The Royal Today before filming even started.

The Sun reports that Jack, who's 25, felt he was too young to play a charge nurse. He originally successfully auditioned for the part of a radiology student.

He said: "It’s been a difficult decision, but it is the right one for me and the series."

Jack played Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders, but quit in 2002. His career has been fairly quiet, although his wife, former popstar Kym Ryder, has found fame as Rovers barmaid Michelle Connor in Coronation Street.
