A bus crash breaks up Middleditch's party

To celebrate his birthday, Middleditch invites Matron, Brigid, Ormerod, Weatherill and Lizzie to a dinner party at his home. Everyone's surprised when Middleditch announces he'd like to donate money to The Royal to ensure it stays open for good and has funding to cover new plans. But while everyone is grateful to him, Ormerod and Weatherill can't agree on how the cash should be spent.

The party is interrupted with news that a double-decker bus carrying day-trippers has crashed down a steep bank. As the doctors hurry to rescue the injured and take them back to Middleditch House, Carnegie and Matron return to The Royal to warn staff to prepare for the casualties. Ormerod is annoyed when one of the casualties dies after being pulled from the wreckage by another day-tripper.

Also, Alun and Jack are delighted when a group of bikini babes arrive in casualty but Jack later gets a fright when a corpse springs to life and turns out to be his old Navy pal Duncan.

And Matron admits to Middleditch she's having difficulties running the hospital, while Bobby grows jealous when he realises that Susie has designs on Carnegie.
