Carnegie's pride is wounded
Sunday, 05 July 2009 19:00 ITV1

Even when she's behaving herself, nurse Susie Dixon gets herself in bother… Determined to make a career in nursing, Susie decides to end her relationship with hospital administrator Adam Carnegie. It was just a fling, after all, wasn't it? Well, no, not to Carnegie, apparently. He stuns Susie by asking her to marry him and, when she says no, he doesn't take the rejection well.
Carnegie's mood isn't improved, either, when he's told he won't be involved in the administration of Mr Middleditch's bequest to The Royal. How much more battering can the man's pride take?
Elsewhere, Dr Jill Weatherill is troubled by Sister Brigid's plans for her unmarried pregnant sister, Moira, which include a Catholic mother and baby nursing home for the birth and a nice couple to adopt the child after it's born. But how does Moira feel about all of this? Well, Sister Brigid and the rest of the hospital staff soon find out when Moira goes into labour unexpectedly...
Meanwhile, outside the hospital, ambulance driver Bobby Sheridan comes across a young lad, Sam, who's vandalising ambulances. Bobby and Dr Nick Burnett take the lad home and are disturbed by the boy's aggressive stepfather. Having been a victim of child abuse, Bobby recognises the signs and wants to help Sam – but Sam decides to help himself…
