Susie's walking on thin ice
Sunday, 21 June 2009 19:00 ITV1

St Aidan's Royal Free Hospital opens its wards for another series and picks up where it left off, with wannabe nurse Susie Dixon jeopardising her new career by having what many see as a scandalous affair with Hospital Administrator Adam Carnegie.
Matron just doesn't know what to do with the young woman, who is, of course, also her niece. When Susie's late for work β again - Matron opts for tough love, telling her to get out of the hospital.
Another staff member whose career is in jeopardy is Consultant Surgeon Mr Rose. A leisurely round of golf with his old friend Bill Parmitter turns dramatic when Bill collapses. Mr Rose tells him he needs a simple hernia operation, which he'll do that day. But Bill dies during the surgery and his wife blames Mr Rose.
Out in the field β literally β ambulance driver Bobby Sheridan heroically rescues a farmer who's trapped under a combine harvester. But Mr Rose has to perform the surgery that will save the farmer's life and, after the death of his friend, he's not sure he can do it.
Dr Nick Burnett thinks he has a run-of-the-mill case of a pregnant mum, Judith, who has been overdoing things. Then he hears that her cat has died of lead poisoning β and then Judith goes into premature labour.
