The Doctor Who spin-off returns for a new 10-part series - and it's more spectacular than ever thanks to a bigger budget, better effects and some big star names joining the cast.
John Barrowman reprises his role as Captain Jack Harkness. As the series begins, the dilemma faced by Jack and the Torchwood team is that no one on the planet is dying.
Christened 'Miracle Day' there isn't a single death in 24 hours. Normally it's a cause for celebration but the strange phenomena keeps happening and as it does the planet get more and more crowded, money and food get scare, the economy goes into meltdown and earth is suddenly heading for chaos.
Meanwhile, hardworking CIA agent Rex Matheson (played by ER's Mekhi Phifer) suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of his bosses and turns to Captain Jack Harkness, and the mysterious Torchwood, for help.
Harkness (played by John Barrowman) sets about putting the Torchwood team back together, but Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) has gone to ground in Wales with husband Rhys and her baby Anwen.
Can Jack convince her to join up again and help solve the riddle of the human race's sudden immortality?
