Bill Pullman relishes his 'dark side' in Torchwood

Bill Pullman relished delving into his dark side for BBC1's Torchwood: Miracle Day.
The Hollywood star, who is better known for playing good guys such as the US President in Independence Day and the romantic Jack Callaghan in While You Were Sleeping, enjoyed showing a different side in the fourth series of the sci-fi show, where he plays serial killer Oswald Danes.
"It was fun to deal with the darker side. There's a great freedom that you have when you don't have to be the good guy that is just always clearly kind and pathetic," he said.
"It's not about being mean or being evil, it's just like people have thought the worst of you so what do you have to be afraid of? Nothing. It's that lack of fear that is most satisfying about having done Oswald."
Bill doesn't get a lot of adrenaline-fuelled action or scary stunts unlike the other characters Captain Jack (John Barrowman) or Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles): "My story is kind of separate from the Torchwood story for quite a while. It has its own dynamics, its own sense of characters and then it slowly begins to link into the other stories."
*Torchwood: Miracle Day screens on BBC One on Thursdays at 9pm.
