John Barrowman: 'I'm full-on naked in Torchwood'

Torchwood star John Barrowman says the new series of the sci-fi show is raunchier than ever - with male nudity and steamy sex scenes.

The actor returns as time-traveller Captain Jack Harkness in a new, bigger budget version of the BBC One series with a 10-episode run called Torchwood: Miracle Day.

John said: "I'm naked in one episode - I am full-on naked.

"I am bumping and grinding in this one. I am having man sex. The true die-hard fans know Jack is omnisexual - he likes men and women.

"People who tune into this series will just think Jack is gay, because he just has full-on man sex."

John, 44, continued: "It was really fun. One day, I get to shoot a helicopter and save the world, and a couple of days later, I get to have sex with a 24-year-old. (It's the most) perfect job in the world."

Joining him are Eve Myles, returning as Torchwood colleague Gwen Cooper, and Hollywood stars Bill Pullman as a convicted child murderer and Mekhi Phifer - known to TV audiences for his role in ER - as a CIA agent.

The series sees BBC Wales partnering with US entertainment network Starz. And the injection of money from America has allowed for a larger-scale production with a transatlantic cast.

"There is a fair bit of swagger in Miracle Day. We go to Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington as well as Wales," the show's creator and writer, Russell T Davies, said.

Members of the cast attended a taster screening of the new series - in which people stop dying - at the BFI South Bank in London.
