Freed child killer Oswald Danes has been thrown into the middle of the mayhem. While he becomes a target for vigilantes and police brutality, people are also fascinated by his story. After his miracle escape from execution, he’s becoming a big star on television chat shows, and he starts using his fame to make proclamations about ‘forgiveness’ and ideas about how the world’s medical system should now be run to stem the crisis. Some fans start to see him as a new Messiah.
When Oswald again meets up with PR consutant Jilly Kitzinger, she persuades him travel with her to a medical conference in Dallas, where she wants him to promote his ideas about getting rid of prescriptions for painkilling drugs. The company she represents, of course, would do very well if that were to happen.
One person who sees through Oswald’s pronouncements is Torchwood’s Jack Harkness, now back in America trying to find answers. Jack’s immediately suspicious when he sees one of the killer’s sickening chat show appearances and he heads to Dallas where the pair have an epic confrontation in Oswald’s hotel room. As Jack holds a gun to Oswald’s head, the killer gives a chilling speech, then his protection officers pounce on Jack...
