Escape to LA

The action in Torchwood switches to America’s west coast, as Jack, Gwen and the two CIA outcasts, Esther Drummond and Rex Matheson, set up a new headquarters at a California beach house.

Still trying to get to the bottom of why the world’s population has turned immortal, the team focus on LA drug company PhiCorp. After finding a huge warehouse full of Phicorp’s painkilling drugs last week, they put together a daring plan to break into PhiCorp HQ and steal its computer files, which could show them if the company knew about the Miracle Day phenomenon in advance. Gwen and Jack are sent in undercover, while Rex masterminds the operation from a van outside.

Rex has another huge problem on his mind of course, as he struggles to deal with the gaping wound in his chest, the result of a traffic accident that should have killed him. The trauma has affected him emotionally as well as physically, but when the raid on Phicorp goes disastrously wrong thanks to a mysterious stalker (C Thomas Howell), Rex is forced to race into PhiCorp to try to rescue his colleagues. The mystery man is shot and left as a vegetable, without them finding out who he works for or what he knows about the Miracle Day.

The other CIA outcast Esther is having plenty of troubles too, but this time with her sister, who she has reported to social services about mistreatment of her kids...
