Actor Corey Haim dies, aged 38

Hollywood actor Corey Haim has died, Los Angeles police have confirmed. He was 38.

The Canadian actor - who had a long history of substance abuse - died from an apparent accidental overdose at 3.30am on Wednesday, reports People.com.

Haim was reportedly found unresponsive at his LA apartment and was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank.

His mother is thought to have called the emergency services.

Haim shot to fame in the hit '80s film The Lost Boys, starring alongside Corey Feldman, which led them to be dubbed 'The Two Coreys'.

They reunited in a reality TV show of that name between 2007 and 2008.

The actor - who once dated Victoria Beckham - has talked openly in the past about his battle with drugs.

Haim is reported to have once said: "I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck.

"But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day - the doctors could not believe I was taking that much.

"And that was just the Valium - I'm not talking about the other pills I went through."

In 2008, Corey Feldman told People magazine he would no longer speak to Haim until Haim was able to stay sober.
