Blockbusters to return to TV screens

The classic game show Blockbusters is set to make a small screen comeback - only this time with grown-up contestants instead of students.

Game show channel Challenge TV will screen 40 new episodes of the show - with production company Talkback Thames advertising for over-18s who would be keen to take part.

The ITV1 programme, which was a staple of the teatime schedule in the 1980s, was hosted by Bob Holness, who died earlier this month.

It saw contestants competing in teams of two against one, answering a series of questions based on letters of the alphabet, in a bid to reach the all-important Gold Run round.

The show was briefly revived for Sky One a decade ago with Liza Tarbuck as the host, while Michael Aspel fronted a short-lived version for the BBC.

No presenter has yet been announced for the new series.
