Cheryl Cole set for 'Voice' performance

Cheryl Cole is set to make a guest appearance on BBC1's X Factor rival The Voice, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The paper reports that the former X Factor judge - who was replaced on the US version of the show after just four days last year - is being lined up to perform new material on the show, which is due to begin in the Spring and challenge Britain's Got Talent in the ratings.

Cheryl's manager will.I.am - who is one of the judges on the show - said that he was thrilled by the prospect of further annoying Simon Cowell, after he called the BBC's intention to screen The Voice at the same time as Britain's Got Talent a "declaration of war".

"I want her on The Voice, I mean why not?" he said. "That would really p**s the big man off wouldn't it?"

The rapper has also spoken out against Cheryl returning to The X Factor, saying "Cheryl won't do X Factor. Why does she need it?"

A TV source told the paper the Girls Aloud singer had been working on new material and added, "The Voice will be the perfect platform to showcase her latest tracks.

"The fact her manager is on the judging panel means it's an absolute no-brainer for her."

The Voice, based on a show which has been a huge hit in the US, features 'blind' auditions, in which the judges do not see who is performing but only hear their singing.

Tom Jones, Jessie J and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue are also on the judging panel for the UK version.
