Garraway injured ahead of 'Let's Dance' final

Kate Garraway may miss out on the final of Let's Dance For Sport Relief on Saturday after injuring the base of her spine, say reports.

According to The Sun the GMTV host - who made the final with co-presenter Richard Arnold after they recreated Grease's Born To Hand Jive routine - was on painkillers after the incident, which occurred during rehearsals.

Insiders said doctors would decide on Saturday whether she was fit to take part.

"It was a pretty serious incident," a source told the paper. "She slipped badly."

Kate had said earlier how thrilled she was to have redeemed herself with the show, after getting a rough ride from the judges when she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007.

The 42-year-old, who partnered Anton du Beke on the show, said, "Anton thinks it's TV trickery that I've got this far. He's coming to the show to see for himself."

Meanwhile, Kate isn't the only celebrity to have suffered an injury ahead of the final.

EastEnders' Cheryl Fergison - who will reprise her version of Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby - strained a hamstring while practising the routine. The actress will however perform, wearing a support bandage.

"I was carried off stage," Cheryl said. "It's complete agony."

The final begins on BBC1 at 1900.
