Real brothers to play Milibands in C4 drama

Real-life brothers Henry and Ben Lloyd-Hughes are to play David and Ed Miliband in a Channel 4 docudrama.

The programme - called Miliband Of Brothers - will focus on the rise to political power of the pair and their battle to head the Labour Party.

Henry, whose appearances have included The Inbetweeners and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, will star as David, while Ben - who has appeared in Skins - will play Ed.

The docudrama is to be broadcast on the eve of the announcement of the leadership election results later this month.

The political duo are locked in a battle to succeed former Prime Minister Gordon Brown as Labour leader, after becoming two of the most powerful and respected figures in the party.

In a publicity shot for the film released on Thursday, the actors are seen aping a famous photograph of gangsters the Kray twins, taken by David Bailey.

The tale of sibling rivalry has been written by David Quantick, best known for his work on Harry Hill's TV Burp and Brass Eye.

As well as examining the pair's personalities and motivations by dramatising events, the film will also feature interviews with figures in the know such as friends, teachers and key Labour figures such as Tony Benn and Neil Kinnock.

Hamish Mykura, Channel 4's head of documentaries, said: "This is an entertaining film in which the progress of the Miliband brothers is set against the movement of the Labour party away from the firebrand values of the left.

"It's a great latest chapter in the continuing More4 tradition of satirical and intelligent TV drama-docs about contemporary politics."

The film will be screened by More4 on September 24.
