Saunders, Spall for BBC Wodehouse comedy
02/02/2012 - 14:13

Jennifer Saunders and Timothy Spall have signed up for a new BBC One comedy celebrating the stories of PG Wodehouse.
Blandings - a co-production with Mammoth Screen and the BBC - is written by Guy Andrews and based on the work of Wodehouse, hailed as one of the greatest comic writers ever.
It's centred on the life of Clarence Emsworth, ninth earl and master of Blandings Castle, played by Timothy. Jennifer will play his sister Connie.
Writer Guy said: "For any writer, it is the rarest privilege imaginable to have Wodehouse legitimately available as source material. Instead of just stealing from him as we usually do."
The six self-contained episodes will be set 1929, and will be filmed on location in Northern Ireland with the support of Northern Ireland Screen.
