Sitcom star Sheen in domestic violence arrest

US sitcom star Charlie Sheen spent much of Christmas Day in a jail cell after being arrested over domestic violence claims, according to reports.
The 44-year-old actor - best known on the small screen for his role in Two And A Half Men - was taken in custody by officers responding to an emergency call in the ski resort town of Aspen, Colorado.
An ambulance went to the house although police said the alleged victim, who was not named, did not have to be taken to hospital.
A police spokeswoman said Sheen was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and menacing - both felonies - along with the lesser charge of criminal mischief.
He was released on bail several hours later and will appear in court on February 8.
It is not the first time that Sheen - the son of West Wing star Martin Sheen - has had a run-in with the law.
In 1996, he was arrested and charged with attacking a girlfriend at his Southern California home. He was later put on two years probation after pleading no contest.
