The One Show's Kohli suspended for bad behaviour

The One Show's 'roving reporter' Hardeep Singh Kohli has been suspended amid claims he behaved inappropriately towards a female researcher.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the 39-year-old comedian will not return to the show for at least six months.

And the paper reports that the researcher lodged a complaint about Kohli's behaviour towards her two months ago. He was subsequently ordered by show bosses to apologise to the woman.

A spokeswoman for the BBC1 show said, "The producers of The One Show received a complaint regarding Hardeep's behaviour towards a production colleague. Hardeep was reprimanded and immediately apologised.

"He agreed to take some time away from the show to reflect on his behaviour. This leave of absence has been agreed to be six months."

Glasgow-born Kohli - who had become one of the most popular presenters on the show, said in a statement, "Nobody has accused me of sexual harrassment. I recognise that I overstepped the mark and have apologised unreservedly."

It is the latest scandal to hit the BBC1 show, which regularly attracts more than six million viewers.

Earlier this year reporter Carol Thatcher was sacked after using a racist term off-air and refusing to apologise.
