Amanda Burton has quit her role in Waterloo Road.
The actress, who joined the school drama as headteacher Karen Fisher 18 months ago, has filmed her final scenes on the BBC One series.
Her agent said she had decided not to renew her contract, telling The Sun: "Amanda only agreed and was contracted to film one series of Waterloo Road that would transmit in two blocks."
An insider was quoted as telling the newspaper: "Everyone hoped she would be in it for the long term, so there was a lot of surprise when we discovered she was only filming one series."
Amanda's base is with her family in London, but she spent 11 months filming on location in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, for her role as head teacher Karen Fisher.
She recently revealed: "It's the first time I have moved to be on a location for a long time and I felt like it was a big adventure."
