Tom Chambers to join Waterloo Road

Former Holby City star Tom Chambers is to join the cast of Waterloo Road after failing to make a splash in Hollywood, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that Tom - who won the 2008 series of Strictly Come Dancing - will make his debut as Max Tyler in the fifth series of the BBC1 drama.

The new role comes after the 31-year-old confidently announced he was planning a movie career.

"I have a Hollywood manager and plans for my own film," he said shortly after winning Strictly. However it appears those plans have now changed.

"Tom is disappointed to find himself on another telly drama," a source told the paper. "He was convinced he was about to hit the big time, that he was leading man material."

Tom's Holby City character Sam Strachan left the show at the end of 2008.
