Denise Welch recreates Thelma & Louise for GMTV

Waterloo Road star Denise Welch has hit California to make a Thelma & Louise-style road trip series for GMTV.

She's buddied up with GMTV reporter Carla Romano, hired a red Mustang and hit the road for a girls-only trip.

It will be a reprieve for the beleagured former Coronation Street star, who's been tabloid news this week after she revealed years of cocaine abuse while filming on the ITV1 soap.

The series takes in houses of the rich and famous, including Jackie Collins (pictured), and will start screening on GMT on May 24.
