Jacobs, Nicholls to join Waterloo Road cast

Former Holby City star Jaye Jacobs is set to join ex-EastEnder Paul Nicholls as two new additions to the cast of Waterloo Road.

The pair will appear in the BBC1 show as newlywed teachers Sian and Jez Diamond.

A BBC spokesman said that Jacobs' character was a Cambridge graduate who was aiming to inspire the pupils through her love of science.

He added that Nicholls' Jez was a former professional footballer who would be attempting to breathe new life into Waterloo Road's PE department.

The seventh series of the show is currently being shown on BBC1, with a further 20 episodes set to be screened later this year.
