Wild at Heart gets fifth series

Wild at Heart will return for a fifth series, ITV has confirmed.

The popular family drama, set in South Africa, has been recommissioned for a further 10 episodes.

Almost eight million viewers regularly tuned into series four, starring Stephen Tompkinson and Dawn Steele, when it was shown on ITV1 earlier this year.

In series five, love continues to blossom for Danny Trevanion (Tompkinson) and fellow vet Alice Collins (Steele), as they continue to work together at Leopard's Den game reserve.

Elsewhere, Du Plessis (Deon Stewardson) marries long-time love, Caroline (Hayley Mills), and Evan (Luke Ward-Wilkinson) has some tough decisions to make as he turns 16.

Holby Blue's Cal Macaninch returns as Alice's estranged brother Rowan, who intensifies the rivalry between Leopard's Den and Mara.
