Samantha Womack’s return to EastEnders is to play out over five nights in a special bumper week of episodes.
The actress quit EastEnders in 2011 after featuring in a controversial storyline where her character Ronnie Mitchell abducted Kat Moon’s baby and replaced him with her own son, who had died. Ronnie has spent the last two years in prison.
The week commencing Monday, September 9 will see five episodes of EastEnders screen on BBC One, with Ronnie returning to Albert Square, while Shirley Carter is set to mysteriously disappear.
As well as appearing in its usual slots, an extra hour-long edition of EastEnders has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 11 at 8pm. Ronnie leaves jail to find Kat (Jessie Wallace) waiting to confront her.
Meanwhile, Shirley (Linda Henry) has begun to get suspicious about Carl White’s involvement in Phil Mitchell’s car crash.
He warns her to keep quiet, but she refuses. After Shirley confronts Carl (Daniel Coonan) at The Arches, she vanishes and her mobile phone is found dumped in a bin, leaving friend Jean Slater and viewers wondering what has happened to her.
