Three former EastEnders stars have apparently signed up to appear in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Jessie Wallace, Gillian Taylforth and Phil Daniels – who starred as Kat Slater, Kathy Beale and Kevin Wicks in Albert Square – will all strut their stuff on BBC1’s hit pro celebrity dance contest, according to The Sun.

A BBC source told the paper: “Jessie is a brilliant coup – she’s a born actress and you can just see her attacking the tango. You can imagine how mischievous she will be.”

The new series of the hugely popular entertainment show, hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly, is due to begin on September 13.

The Sun also revealed that actress Cherie Lunghi, currently starring as Billie Piper’s madam in ITV2 series Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, will compete in the show.

Retired footballer Teddy Sherringham, former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens, TV chef Gary Rhodes and model Jodie Kidd have also apparently signed up to take to the dance floor.

Other celebrities who have been linked to the new series include M People singer Heather Small, TV presenter Melanie Sykes and George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend Lisa Snowden.

Katie Price and Peter Andre have also been rumoured to appear, but the glamour model has ridiculed the stories.
