EastEnders star Lorna Fitzgerald has hinted there's a dramatic Christmas ahead in the Branning household as Max's revenge plot comes to a head.

EastEnders star Lorna Fitzgerald has confirmed there is a huge Christmas ahead for the Brannings as Max’s revenge plot looks set to come to a head and a double exit looms for Abi and Lauren.

At the moment, fans are waiting for Max’s intricate plot to come undone and to be exposed and Lorna confirmed that this year, Christmas is all about the Brannings.

Lorna, who plays Abi, admitted the storyline could even top the great reveal of Max and Stacey’s affair in 2007 – an iconic Christmas scene which still lives on as one of the soap’s most dramatic revelations.

Speaking to the Metro she said: “I think it will be good and it will be explosive. The last one was the DVD and yeah, I reckon it could top that!”

Speaking about Max and whether he could ever be redeemed in the eyes of the audience, Lorna insisted that we shouldn’t write him off yet, saying: “I love watching Max and I think Jake plays it brilliantly. Maybe I’m a bit biased but I think he can be redeemed because it’s Max and people have done worse in EastEnders.”

But as for whether Abi could ever forgive him if she knew that he was responsible for Steven Beale’s death, she said: “If she found that out, that would be it for her and Max!”

With her exit looming, Lorna admitted that she didn’t know what her final storyline would be but insisted she is excited for what the future holds.

She said: “It’s nice as actresses that Jacqueline and I are leaving together as you have someone to talk about it with and share the burden.” But how would Lorna like Abi to be if she were to ever return? Would she like her to have her life sorted out? Lorna barely hesitated before answering: ‘Oh I’d like her to be even crazier – it’s way more fun to play!’
