Emma Barton mystery continues as viewers debate the suspects
Emmerdale fans are still in a quandary over who killed Emma Barton as the mystery rumbles on for another week.
The character (Gillian Kearney) made a series of enemies with her rash – and murderous – actions in the days leading up to the moment she fell from a viaduct on the ITV soap last month.
Speculation has been building about who may have pushed her after police suspected that her fall may have been foul play.
As tension continued to mount around the story on Tuesday night’s episode, actor Michael Parr made the case for his character, Emma’s son Ross, who said earlier in the programme that “she didn’t deserve to live”.
He said in a video clip for the show: “Ross could be one of the suspects because there’s always been this underlying tension between Ross and Emma.
“She tried to suffocate him when he was a little boy, she’s caused so much trouble breaking him and Debbie up, breaking Pete and Layla up, and now she’s murdered Finn.
“Underneath it all, he has a heart. He’s grown up in the last coupe of years, he’s got his little boy Moses, who he cares about very much.”
Among the unconvinced viewers, one responded on Twitter: “No it can’t be Ross he wouldn’t be able to do that he’s got a heart of gold whatever she’s done to him he wouldn’t kill her so Ross is out of the suspects.”
Meanwhile, others are suggesting a range of suspects who would have a motive to end Emma’s life, including Pete Barton.
“My bet still (with) Pete – he’s (too) eager (to) lay blame on everyone else’s door,” commented one. “As for Ross I think hes certainly capable but I think someone beat him (to) it.”
“I think Pete did it, that’s why he’s trying to blame everyone else!” added another.
Emmerdale continues on ITV at 7pm on Wednesday.
