Emmerdale has unwrapped a special Christmas photo of its main players packed into The Woolpack… and you can tell just by the looks on their faces whether they’re being good or bad, naughty or nice…

There’s Robert (Ryan Hawley) sat next to Katie (Sammy Winward) and Andy (Kelvin Fletcher), with a snarl on his face. As Andy looks forward to his Christmas Day wedding to fiancée and childhood sweetheart, Katie, will his bitter brother find a way to ruin their happily ever after once more?

Aaron’s return to the village has by no means been quiet and it’s unlikely to change anytime soon. Aaron’s involvement with Ross (Michael Parr) and Charity’s (Emma Atkins) dodgy “chop shop” dealings saw him cornered into further acts of crime as he played his part in a staged masked raid at Home Farm that didn’t go to plan. Will that lead to Aaron (Danny Miller) finding himself in a relationship that presents danger of a different kind?

Jai (Chris Bisson) will continue to struggle to explain how he got his son back, fearful as he considers exactly what the truth may be. He’s got Ali (Kelli Hollis) and Ruby (Alicya Eyo) on his back, questioning the welfare and whereabouts of Archie’s mum, Rachel. Desperate, Jai confides in partner Megan (Gaynor Faye). But will Jai’s potentially incriminating admission see Megan hotfoot it to the police? Or will she prove to be his saviour by finding a way to throw his doubters off guard?

Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) never quite got their “honeymoon period”, with concerns for Marlon’s daughter, April, weighing heavily on their minds. As the photo shows, they’re not at all close right now. With Marlon unable to focus on anything other than April, will he lose sight of his wife’s needs causing her to turn her attentions elsewhere?

Meanwhile, Laurel’s ex, Ashley (John Middleton), is having an altogether happier time under the mistletoe, as he and new vicar, Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton), enjoy their newfound relationship. But just as things seem to be going well for the couple, will something happen to disrupt their blossoming romance?

Relationships will be tested and some villagers will be left out in the cold this Christmas. With a great deal of resentment – and all the secrets and lies – there are some characters who need to tread carefully this winter…

Emmerdale continues on ITV, Monday December 1, 7.00pm.
