Autumn arrives, but this far north that means winter is just around the corner.

On the island of St Lawrence, three Arctic fox cubs soon get the message when their mother stops bringing them food, as does a black bear cub when his mother simply refuses to feed him.

And for one young bald eagle, going it alone means having to take a leap of faith – 150 feet from the top of the forest canopy.
