If you’re suffering with Winter Olympics withdrawal symptoms, then Will Ferrell and Jon Heder should put a smile back on your face.

They star as rival figure skaters who are banned for life after a bout of fisticuffs but, exploiting a loophole in the rules, return as the world’s first same-sex ice-skating pair.

The entire movie is just an excuse to get them to dress up in silly outfits and crash and crunch into each other on the ice, but it’s none the worse for that.

Heder and Ferrell generate bright comedy sparks with a lot of backstage sniping and super tricksy blade work on the rink. Big laughs also come courtesy of Amy Poehler and Will Arnett, as a creepy brother-and-sister team who are scarily obsessed with medals and each other.
