This amazing documentary reveals the role a 140,000- strong Chinese army played in World War One.

In the autumn of 1916 Allied losses were so great, Churchill was fearful Britain was about to lose the war.

A secret deal was drawn up with China to send over masses of manual labourers to help with the war effort. They worked 10-hour days, seven days a week and were crucial in enabling Allied forces to keep fighting.

But prejudice and racism has meant they have been erased from history.
Now a campaign, helped by Joanna Lumley, is hoping to erect a memorial to mark
these men’s invaluable contribution.
