This smash-hit movie stars Patrick Swayze as a dance instructor at a stuffy Catskills resort in 1963, who teaches teen Jennifer Grey all about life and love.

In the role that rocketed him to stardom, Swayze dances gracefully and also sweetly sings one of the songs (She’s Like the Wind, which he also wrote).

The corny plot, with stolen wallet, irate parents and all, may be dated, but the dialogue hits home and is a good deal more affecting than one might have expected. But it’s the sizzling dance sequences that have ensured this movie has stood the test of time.
