Separated as kids, Sacha Baron Cohen’s feckless Northern yob and his long-lost brother, Mark Strong’s ultra-suave MI6 agent, reunite to foil a global terrorist plot.

The spy plot is a bit laboured, but fans of Cohen will lap up all the grossest of gross-out humour on offer – especially the sequence involving copulating elephants, which plumbs new depths for the genre – and there are some genuinely hilarious throwaway gags.

The very funny Rebel Wilson and Penélope Cruz are underused, while Tamsin Egerton, John Thomson, Ricky Tomlinson, Johnny Vegas and Gabourey Sidibe are among those who pop up.
