This fiendishly clever thriller sees motel guest Guy Pearce suffering from amnesia while trying to find out who murdered his wife.
His condition affects his short term memory and means that every time he wakes up, he’s forgotten everything that’s happened the day before. So he takes Polaroid pictures of people he meets, makes notes and tattoos cryptic messages on his body in an effort to find the killer.
However, that makes him vulnerable to everyone who he can’t remember, such as Joe Pantoliano and Carrie-Anne Moss, but who may well know him and could just as easily be enemies as friends.
The tantalising plot of writer-director Christopher Nolan’s dense and subtly plotted thriller intriguingly unfolds in reverse and, though you need to keep your wits about you, it is well worth the attention it demands.
Screening at 12.10am on Wales and 12.40am on Northern Ireland.
