Although slow to kick off under their new manager Claude Puel, Southampton should end the season in a respectable top-half position in the table.

The player who has pushed them upwards recently is the 25-year-old striker Manolo Gabbiadini, who was bought in January from Napoli for what now seems a paltry sum of around £14million.

It will be interesting to see whether Gabbiadini will be able to break through tonight’s visitors to St Mary’s, as the dogged Manchester United come to town (kick-off 7.45pm).

Will the Italian forward extinguish the Reds’ hope of finishing in the Top Four?
