The Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale princess Snow White (Kristen Stewart) is transformed from damsel in distress to kick-ass action-movie heroine for this gritty and atmospheric fantasy adventure.

Imprisoned by her evil stepmother (Charlize Theron), Snow White escapes into the Dark Forest. There Chris Hemsworth’s troubled huntsman teams up with her and, with the help of eight dwarfs, they are soon storming the castle.

Stewart looks glum rather than feisty and there is no chemistry between her and Hemsworth.

Hpwever, the dwarfs, played by the likes of Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Nick Frost and Eddie Marsan, provide some much-needed light relief, Theron puts on a good show and the film looks great.
