A children’s author with writer’s block (Kyle Gallner) unwittingly lands the role of gatekeeper to a portal that offers the chronically hopeless the chance to undo the past.

However,  he comes to envy the strangers who go through the curious door in his closet and wonders why he hasn’t been given the chance to follow in their stead.

This odd magic-realist fable is a mite too quirky for its own good, but the excellent cast – which also includes Nick Offerman as Woody’s gnarly landlord and Keegan-Michael Key and Molly C Quinn as the fey, enigmatic pair manipulating everyone’s fates – keeps us engaged even when the story tests our patience.
