Twisty in the extreme, this part live-action, part animated movie stars Gael García Bernal, Alison Pill and Mariana Ximenes.
The teasing plot features three frustrated storytellers, each of whom is creating the fictional world inhabited by one of the others.
Pill’s comic-book artist Emma, a discontented worker in a sex-doll factory who yearns for bigger breasts, draws a tale about a handsome film director (a rotoscope animation Bernal) and gives him size issues of his own. And he, in turn, is making a film about a model (Ximenes), who escapes to Brazil to write a novel – which just happens to feature Emma.
The film’s braided narrative doesn’t really go anywhere and will probably tie your brain in knots, but it provides a good measure of playful fun.
