Strong in the hunt for Bin Laden
09/02/2012 - 00:00
Mark Strong has revealed he has signed up to star in Kathryn Bigelow's controversial film about the hunt for Osama bin Laden.
The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow received criticism from Republican congressman Peter King when it was revealed she was making the movie.
Mark Strong said: 'It's a very procedural film about the CIA and their attempts to find him... We'll be shooting that in Jordan and Washington.'
Meanwhile, the British actor said he wasn't disappointed at the lack of Oscar nominations for Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, as he felt it was a 'very British affair'.
He said: 'I think the most important thing is that Gary was recognised for his work in it.'
'It's a very big pond for them to make their choices from. It's a very British event Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. A British novel, British cast; it's not an easy film either.'
'The book is arcane and the narrative difficult, much as in the film and I think, traditionally, Academy voters tend to like things a little simpler.'
